PM Kisan 20th Installment: Will August 2 Bring Good News for Farmers? Here's What We Know So Far

Millions of farmers across India are eagerly awaiting the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, a scheme that provides ₹2,000 every four months to eligible beneficiaries. While hopes were initially high for the installment to arrive on June 20 or July 18, both dates passed without any disbursement. Now, fresh speculation suggests that August 2, 2025, could finally bring relief.
Four Months and Still Waiting
It has been nearly four months since the last installment was credited, and farmers are beginning to grow anxious. On June 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar, sparking speculation that the 20th installment might be released. However, the visit came and went without any official announcement.
Later, on July 18, during the PM’s visit to Motihari, hope was rekindled, but once again, no payment was made. With July drawing to a close, the wait continues, and there’s still no official word on when the next payment will be made.
Why August 2 Is a Likely Date
According to current reports, August 2 is being viewed as a strong possibility for the release of the next installment. On this day, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, where he will attend a major public program in Sewapuri, located just 20 kilometers away.
Sources suggest that during this visit, PM Modi may announce the release of over ₹1,000 crore worth of projects for Uttar Pradesh. Given the scale of the event and the historical pattern — the 17th installment of PM Kisan was also disbursed from Varanasi — it is highly likely that the 20th installment could be announced at this time.
Why July 26 Seems Unlikely
Between July 23 and July 26, the Prime Minister will be out of the country, visiting the United Kingdom and Maldives. On July 23 and 24, he will be in the UK on an official trip, followed by two days in the Maldives. With the Prime Minister abroad, the likelihood of the installment being credited during this window is extremely low.
Uttar Pradesh Leads in Beneficiaries
Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of beneficiaries under the PM Kisan Yojana, with over 2.44 crore farmers enrolled. Maharashtra follows with more than 93 lakh farmers receiving benefits. This also adds to the speculation that the government may choose to make the announcement in UP, especially since delays have already pushed the disbursement beyond the typical schedule.
What Is PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana?
The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a central government scheme launched in 2019 to provide financial support of ₹6,000 per year, given in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. The funds are directly transferred to the bank accounts of eligible farmers. The aim is to provide income support to farmers to help them with input costs, agricultural needs, and household expenses.
Final Word
While no official confirmation has been made yet, all signs point toward August 2 as a potential date for the 20th PM Kisan installment. Farmers are advised to keep a close watch on government announcements and ensure that their eKYC and bank details are updated in the PM Kisan portal to avoid delays in payment.
