PM Internship Scheme: Addressing rising unemployment and the lack of practical skills among the youth, the Government of India has launched the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme. This scheme is administered by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Its primary objective is to provide youth with 12 months of real-world work experience and practical skills within the country's top 500 companies. Under this scheme, participants receive a monthly stipend of ₹9,000 and a one-time assistance amount of ₹6,000.

Eligibility

Regarding eligibility for the PM Internship Scheme, unemployed youth aged 18 to 25 are eligible to apply. To avail of the benefits, candidates must have passed Class 10 or 12, or hold an ITI certificate, polytechnic diploma, or other relevant certificates. Graduates from any stream—such as BA, BSc, BCom, or BCA—are also eligible to apply. The total annual income of the applicant's family must be less than ₹12 lakh.

Important Points to Note

To benefit from this scheme, no family member should hold a government job. Additionally, students from premier institutions like IIT, IIM, and NLU, as well as individuals who have completed or are pursuing CA, CS, MBBS, or PhD qualifications, are not eligible for this scheme.

Monthly Stipend of ₹9,000 and Free Insurance

A key feature of this scheme is that it offers financial security alongside the opportunity to learn on the job. Selected candidates receive a monthly stipend of ₹9,000. Additionally, a one-time assistance amount of ₹6,000 is provided upon commencing the internship. The government also offers free insurance coverage to interns under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.

How ​​to Apply

Candidates interested in availing the benefits of the PM Internship Scheme can register by visiting the government's official PM Internship portal at pminternship.mca.gov.in. On the portal, youth can select companies based on their preferred cities and sectors (such as IT, banking, automobile, or manufacturing) and submit their applications.

Here is the complete step-by-step application process:

1: First, visit the Government of India's official PM Internship portal at pminternship.mca.gov.in/login.

2: Click on the 'Registration' link provided on the homepage. Enter your mobile number and verify it using the OTP received on your phone.

3: Once registered, log in using your credentials. Accurately fill in your personal details, educational qualifications, and skills information. The portal will automatically generate a digital resume based on the information you provide.

4: Next, click on the "Explore Internship" option. Select the sectors (e.g., banking, IT, automobile) and locations where you wish to intern. You can apply for a maximum of three internships.

5: The portal will display a list of companies based on your profile. You can apply online for up to three companies or internship opportunities of your choice.

6: Double-check all the information and submit the form. If selected, you will receive a notification from the company and the ministry via the email address and mobile number you provided.

In case you are not selected for the internship you applied for, there is no need to worry; you can submit a new application for other internships.
