Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin: To provide permanent houses to poor and needy people in the rural areas of the country, the central government announced a new scheme in 2016: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (Prime Minister's Housing Scheme-Rural). Under this scheme, the central government provides financial assistance of up to Rs. 1.30 lakh for the construction of a permanent house.

Registration for this scheme has resumed. The survey work is underway. If you also want to avail the benefits of this scheme, apply without delay. In fact, a scheme called Indira Awas Yojana was launched in 1996 to provide permanent houses to the poor people of the country. However, a review after 2014 found that the scheme needed improvement. On April 1, 2016, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launched the 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin' (PM Awas Yojana-G). This scheme aimed to provide permanent houses to those who do not have a roof over their heads or who are forced to live in slums.

What happens after the PM Awas Yojana survey?
The Housing Plus survey is conducted for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Those who have had their land surveyed under the Housing Plus scheme will now undergo verification, and a list will be prepared at the Gram Panchayat level.
