PM Awas Yojana 2.0: A major update has been released for urban citizens aspiring to own a home under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). According to official records, there is no longer a need to wait for a specific new registration date for this scheme; PMAY-U 2.0 has been operational since September 1, 2024. Eligible citizens can apply directly through the scheme's unified web portal.
Target of 1 crore homes over the next 5 years
The Central Government aims to assist 1 crore additional urban families in building or purchasing affordable homes over the next five years through PMAY-U 2.0. This means the government will help 1 crore families acquire or construct their own homes, thereby bringing stability to their lives. The scheme operates through four key categories: Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH), and Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS). Financial assistance of up to ₹2.50 lakh per unit is provided under the BLC and AHP categories.

This scheme is primarily intended for eligible families in urban areas. Under the Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS), families belonging to the EWS (annual income up to ₹3 lakh), LIG (annual income up to ₹6 lakh), and MIG (annual income up to ₹9 lakh) categories can apply. So far, over 16.20 lakh houses have been sanctioned under this scheme. Final verification of eligibility is conducted by the concerned Urban Local Body (ULB) and the State Government.

Select the 'Apply for PMAY-U 2.0' option on the homepage.
Check your eligibility and complete the Aadhaar-based authentication process.
Enter personal details, family information, proof of income, and all other necessary housing-related information.
Fill out the form correctly, submit it, and keep a printout of the application for future reference and status tracking.
