Google has now launched a new health-tracking feature for Pixel Watch 3 in the US, which was previously limited to European markets only. According to reports, users can now take advantage of the 'Loss of Pulse Detection' feature, which monitors the wearer's heartbeat and can contact emergency services in case of any abnormality or complete stoppage of heartbeat.

Loss of Pulse Detection feature comes to Pixel Watch 3

According to a report by 9to5Google, the feature is coming to the Pixel Watch 3 with an update released in April 2025. The update is based on Wear OS 5.1 (based on Android 15) and has a software version of BP1A.250305.019.W7, although the update mostly includes bug fixes, reports suggest that users in the US can now use this health-tracking feature.

According to Google, this feature can call emergency services even when the user is unconscious and their pulse is not detected. It can be activated when the pulse is not detected due to various reasons such as cardiac arrest, respiratory or circulatory failure of the lungs, overdose, or poisoning.

If the pulse is not detected, the Pixel Watch 3 vibrates and asks the user if they need help. If the watch does not detect any movement or pulse from the user, it automatically calls emergency services and sends the user's location and information about the absence of a pulse through an automated message.

However, this feature is dependent on certain conditions to work such as the Wi-Fi model needs to be connected to the smartphone and in its range. The LTE model needs an active LTE connection so that it can make an emergency call.
