Pilots to Get Salary Hikes and More Leave: Airline Makes Announcement
A major Indian low-cost airline has announced a salary increase for its pilots. The airline will offer a pay hike of up to 20%, along with an increase in leave entitlement.
Ahead of Diwali, a prominent low-cost carrier in the country has brought welcome news for its pilots by deciding to increase their salaries. The airline in question is Akasa Air, which is set to raise pilot salaries by up to 20%. Furthermore, the airline will increase both the minimum guaranteed monthly flight hours and the number of annual leave days.
These changes are expected to benefit over 800 pilots employed by the company. According to reports, the new policies regarding salaries and leave will come into effect on January 1, 2027. The company has taken this decision at a time when it is expanding its fleet and increasing the number of its flights.
Pilot Salaries to Increase by 20%
Akasa Air will adjust two components of its pilots' compensation: their fixed monthly salary and the payments linked to flight hours. Following these adjustments, the total salary for pilots could see an increase of up to 20%. However, the exact raise for each individual pilot will depend on their specific salary structure.
Increase in Leave Entitlement
Beyond salary improvements, the company has also decided to increase the annual leave for its pilots. Under the new policy, pilots will be entitled to at least 42 days of leave per year. Pilots will also have the flexibility to choose their preferred work schedules; depending on the options selected, their total leave could exceed 42 days.
Guaranteed Monthly Flying Hours
Additionally, the company has decided to increase the minimum guaranteed monthly flying hours for pilots to 50. This means that, under the established work arrangement, pilots will receive guaranteed pay for 50 hours per month. Even if a pilot’s actual flying hours fall short in a given month, they will still be entitled to payment for these minimum hours, in accordance with the stipulated terms. This will help make the pilots' monthly earnings more stable.
