PF Funds Can Now Be Withdrawn Directly via UPI: Discover the Government's New Plan
EPFO UPI Withdrawal: PF Transfers Just Got Easier! EPFO Members Can Now Withdraw Funds Directly via UPI. Learn How This New System Works and Its Major Benefits.
EPFO UPI Withdrawal: The government is set to introduce a new facility for members of the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) that will make withdrawing PF funds incredibly simple. You will now be able to withdraw your PF money directly through UPI. According to Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, testing (trials) for this new facility have been completed, and it will soon be rolled out for the general public.
What Will Change with This New System?
Currently, if you wish to withdraw PF funds, you are required to fill out an online claim form. Subsequently, the verification and processing stages take several days to complete. However, with the introduction of the new UPI system, the entire process will undergo a transformation. Members will now be able to check online exactly how much money they are eligible to withdraw. Following this, by simply using their UPI PIN, they can instantly transfer those funds directly into their linked bank account. You will be able to utilize these funds immediately—whether to withdraw cash from an ATM or to make any digital payment.
How to Withdraw PF Funds Instantly?
This new system will function in exactly the same way you use apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm for your daily transactions. It involves a few very simple steps:
First, you must access your PF account to check the specific amount you are authorized to withdraw. (Please note that you will only be permitted to withdraw a specific portion of your total PF corpus; the remaining balance will remain securely locked within your account.)
Subsequently, the funds will be transferred exclusively to the bank account linked to your EPFO records.
You simply need to enter your confidential UPI PIN; once the transaction is completed, the funds will be credited directly to your bank account. This will completely eliminate the need for paperwork and the long waiting periods previously involved.
Has the Auto-Settlement Limit Also Been Increased? Yes, the government has already increased the auto-settlement limit for emergency situations (such as illness, education, marriage, or housing needs) from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh. Under this system, the entire process is completed via computer within three days. Now, with the introduction of the new UPI system, this process is set to become even faster.
What new feature is being introduced on WhatsApp?
The EPFO is also set to launch a WhatsApp-based help desk service within the next month. Under this initiative:
You simply need to send a message typing "Hello" to the EPFO's verified WhatsApp number.
This service will be available in local and regional languages.
Through this platform, you will be able to check your PF balance, claim status, and recent transactions at any time—24 hours a day.
This facility will prove particularly helpful for individuals who face difficulties with Aadhaar verification or the activation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This move by the government will directly benefit over 70 million PF account holders across the country.
