This price hike has been implemented due to the crisis in West Asia and the disruption of supplies via the Strait of Hormuz. Prior to this, Nayara Energy had also raised its petrol and diesel rates.

Before stepping out, do check the current rates for petrol and diesel, as another private fuel company has hiked fuel prices today. Jio-bp, backed by Reliance Industries, has increased the price of petrol by ₹5 per liter and diesel by ₹3 per liter. The new rates came into effect yesterday—Sunday, October 11—at 6:00 AM. Following the revision, petrol is selling at approximately ₹109.80 per liter and diesel at ₹97.75 per liter at Jio-bp outlets in Haryana.

What are the rates in Punjab and Rajasthan?

At Jio-bp outlets in Punjab, petrol is selling at approximately ₹108.54 per liter and diesel at ₹99.19 per liter. Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, petrol at the company's outlets is priced between ₹113.91 and ₹117.65 per liter (depending on local taxes), and diesel is selling between ₹97.15 and ₹100.78 per liter.

Nayara also hiked prices

Before Jio-bp, another private oil company, Nayara Energy, had implemented a similar hike in petrol and diesel prices on October 3. Rising prices of crude oil and refined products in the global market have put pressure on marketing margins, forcing companies to raise prices. Nayara operates over 7,000 outlets across the country. Meanwhile, state-owned companies—Indian Oil, BPCL, and HPCL—have not changed the prices of regular petrol and diesel, widening the price gap compared to private retailers.

What are the petrol and diesel prices today?

Today, October 12, state-run oil companies have kept petrol and diesel prices unchanged across the country. However, crude oil prices in the global market remain high. The decision by state-owned oil companies to keep prices stable has provided some relief to consumers amidst fluctuations in the international oil market.

In Delhi, the price of petrol is ₹102.12 per litre, and diesel is ₹95.20 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol is retailing at ₹111.21 per litre and diesel at ₹97.83 per litre. This indicates that fuel prices in the national capital are lower compared to other metropolitan cities.
