Fuel Prices Today (July 27, 2026): Following a slight dip in international crude oil prices, state-owned oil companies have released the new rates for petrol and diesel for today.

Petrol-Diesel Rates Today (July 27): There has been no change in petrol and diesel prices across the country today, July 27. However, fresh diplomatic talks have resumed between the US and Iran. This led to a slight decline in crude oil prices last week; while the price of Brent crude oil reached $100.69 per barrel on Thursday, it fell by approximately 4% on Friday.

This development follows a statement by US Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, indicating that President Donald Trump is giving Iran another chance for dialogue. Consequently, there have been no attacks between the two nations for the past two consecutive days, raising hopes for the resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Why is the Strait of Hormuz so important?

More than 20% of the world's crude oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Whenever tensions escalate between the US and Iran, oil prices tend to skyrocket immediately due to fears of supply disruptions in the global market. Earlier, in April, when military tensions between the two nations peaked, Brent crude prices crossed the $120-per-barrel mark. At that time, Indian oil companies had sharply raised petrol and diesel prices by approximately ₹7.50 per liter.

City-wise petrol and diesel prices today

City Petrol Price (per litre) Diesel Price (per litre)
Delhi ₹102.12 ₹95.20
Mumbai ₹111.21 ₹97.83
Kolkata ₹113.51 ₹99.82
Bengaluru ₹110.93 ₹98.80
Chennai ₹107.77 ₹99.55
Patna ₹113.35 ₹99.36
Surat ₹101.81 ₹97.92
Varanasi ₹102.03 ₹95.53
Kanpur ₹101.59 ₹95.06

Since when have prices remained stable?

Petrol and diesel rates in the country have remained unchanged since May 25. During this period, state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) raised petrol prices by ₹2.61 per litre and diesel prices by ₹2.71 per litre.

Petrol and diesel prices are primarily influenced by international crude oil rates, as crude oil is the key raw material for both. Additionally, the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Indian rupee plays a significant role, given India's heavy reliance on crude oil imports. When the rupee weakens against the dollar, the cost of purchasing crude oil rises, which can directly lead to an increase in retail fuel prices.
