Fuel Rates Today: Amid the crisis in West Asia and rising crude oil prices, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) recently hiked petrol and diesel prices by approximately ₹7.5 per liter.
Petrol-Diesel Rates Today (July 24): Despite the rise in crude oil prices in the international market, petrol and diesel prices in the country remain stable today. It is a relief for ordinary consumers that, even after a global surge in oil prices, state-run Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have not increased fuel prices at the retail level.
In Delhi, the price of petrol is ₹102.12 per liter, and diesel is ₹95.20 per liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, petrol costs ₹111.21 per liter, and diesel costs ₹97.83 per liter.
When were the rates last changed?
Petrol and diesel prices in India were last revised on May 25. At that time, the price of petrol was increased by ₹2.61 per liter and diesel by ₹2.71 per liter. Prices were raised four times during May due to the continuous rise in crude oil prices in the international market.
The first major hike of around ₹3 per liter took place on May 15. Then, on May 19, prices were raised by approximately 90 paise. Subsequently, on May 23, rates were increased by another 90 paise. Finally, on May 25, a fourth hike of ₹2.61–₹2.71 per liter was implemented. In total, within these 10 days, petrol became dearer by approximately ₹7.35 per liter and diesel by ₹7.53 per liter.

Where is petrol and diesel the cheapest?
Hyderabad has the highest petrol price at ₹115.69 per liter. Thiruvananthapuram ranks second, with the petrol price standing at ₹115.49 per litre.
On the other hand, among the cities on the list, Chandigarh has the lowest petrol price at ₹98.10 per litre. Compared to several other metro cities, petrol prices in Lucknow and New Delhi also remain lower—at ₹102.05 and ₹102.12 per litre, respectively.
As for diesel, the highest price has been recorded in Thiruvananthapuram at ₹104.40 per litre. This is followed by Hyderabad, where the diesel price is ₹103.82 per litre. Among the cities on the list, Chandigarh has the lowest diesel price at ₹86.09 per litre.
