Petrol-Diesel Prices Today (29 July 2026): New rates for petrol and diesel have been released across the country. State-owned oil companies have not changed fuel prices today either, providing some relief to motorists for the time being. However, crude oil prices in the international market continue to fluctuate, so the market will be keeping a close watch on this in the coming days.

Petrol and diesel are being sold at existing rates in most cities across the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. Oil companies release new prices every morning at 6:00 AM, but consumers did not face any changes today.

Why haven't prices changed?

In the international market, the price of Brent crude has fallen below $88 per barrel. Despite this, there has been no change in petrol and diesel prices in the domestic market. The reason is that retail fuel prices in India do not depend solely on the cost of crude oil; they also include taxes, freight charges, dealer commissions, and various other expenses.

Is the petrol pure?

If you have even the slightest doubt about the quality of the petrol, you can have a filter paper test and a density test conducted at the petrol pump. If a few drops of petrol placed on filter paper evaporate without leaving a stain, it is considered pure. Additionally, quality can be verified by checking the density register.

How much have prices changed since January?

There have been multiple changes in petrol and diesel prices this year compared to January. Towards the end of May, state-owned oil companies hiked petrol prices by ₹2.61 per litre and diesel prices by ₹2.71 per litre. Since then, prices have remained stable, and no changes have been made today either.
