Free Cylinder on Holi: The Delhi and Uttar Pradesh governments are providing free gas cylinders or financial assistance to eligible families this Holi. Check if your name is on the beneficiary list.

Free Cylinder on Holi: Holi is just around the corner. Markets are bustling with activity, and preparations for the festival have begun in homes. At this time, cooking gas expenses put a strain on many families' budgets. Keeping this in mind, the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh governments have taken a relief decision. In Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced that eligible families will receive financial assistance for gas cylinders during major festivals like Holi and Diwali.

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced free cylinders for Ujjwala gas connection holders. The goal of both state governments is to ensure that no needy household's kitchen remains empty during the festival. Find out if you will receive a free cylinder or not.

Who will benefit from the free cylinder?

This scheme will be implemented twice a year in Delhi. An amount of ₹853 will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts on Holi and Diwali. The government will not directly distribute the cylinders, but will instead send a fixed amount so families can refill their gas at their convenience. A budget of approximately ₹242 crore has been approved for this.

It is estimated that approximately 1.75 million ration card-holding families will be covered under this scheme. Significantly, households with pipeline gas connections will also receive equal financial assistance. This will provide equal relief to urban and low-income families.

The Uttar Pradesh government has also taken a significant decision in light of the festival. Eligible families receiving gas connections under the Ujjwala Yojana in the state will receive free cylinders. This will directly benefit rural and economically weaker sections. The government says this step is crucial to empowering women and reducing kitchen expenses.

Who will not benefit?

Like every scheme, eligibility is established. In Delhi, only families with valid ration cards will be eligible for this assistance. Those who do not belong to the economically weaker section or do not have a ration card are excluded. They will be excluded from this benefit. Government employees and retired government employees are also not covered by this scheme. In Uttar Pradesh, benefits will be available only to those with Ujjwala connections. If you live in Delhi, a ration card is required, whereas in Uttar Pradesh, your name must be listed on the Ujjwala scheme.
