Pension Update: Big Announcement – Doubles Pension Benefits for Freedom Fighters

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has made a significant announcement, doubling the pension benefits for freedom fighters in the state. In addition, those detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during the Emergency will also receive a substantial monthly pension.

Enhanced Pension for Freedom Fighters

In a move to honor the contributions of those who fought for India's independence, the monthly pension for freedom fighters has been increased from ₹9,000 to ₹15,000. This decision was announced during the All India Freedom Fighter Day function, where the Chief Minister expressed gratitude for their sacrifices.

Special Pension for MISA Detainees

The state government has also introduced a pension of ₹20,000 per month for individuals arrested under MISA during the 21-month Emergency period (1975-1977). Majhi emphasized the hardships these individuals endured while fighting for the restoration of democracy during what he described as the darkest chapter in independent India's history.
