A new system for old-age pensions has been implemented in Uttar Pradesh, bringing changes to the disbursement process. Previously, a pension of ₹3,000 was provided every three months; under the new system, this amount will be disbursed in two installments. The pension funds will be transferred directly to beneficiaries' accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). There are approximately 1.19 lakh old-age pension beneficiaries in UP, and the disbursement process under the new system has already commenced.

**Pension to be Disbursed Every 45 Days**
Previously, the pension amount of ₹3,000 was released once every three months (90 days). Now, however, the amount will be sent in two installments of ₹1,500 each. A pension installment of ₹1,500 will be released every 45 days. Beneficiaries will be notified of the release via SMS and the official portal.

**Joint Pension Contribution by Centre and State for Those Aged 80+**
Under the new system, beneficiaries over the age of 80 receive a pension of ₹3,000 every three months; the cost is shared equally, with the Central Government and the State Government each contributing ₹1,500. However, for beneficiaries under the age of 80, the State Government contributes ₹2,400 and the Central Government contributes ₹600 towards the ₹3,000 quarterly pension amount.

**Eligibility Criteria for Old-Age Pension**
Individuals aged 60 and above can apply for the old-age pension. However, income limits have been established, meaning not every 60-year-old is eligible for the benefit. To qualify, an individual's annual income must not exceed ₹46,080 in rural areas or ₹56,460 in urban areas. Applicants must provide proof of age and possess a bank account linked to their Aadhaar number. For the application, you will need to submit documents such as a copy of the family register, Aadhaar card, bank account passbook, passport-sized photograph, and proof of educational qualifications (if available).
