The Indian government had ordered the public many days ago to link their Aadhar card and PAN card, for which many opportunities were also provided, the deadline was also extended many times, this many people did not complete this task, linking PAN and Aadhar is necessary for all citizens, because if they do not do so, they will not be able to conduct banking and other financial activities, now the government has started taking money from those who have not linked their Aadhar and PAN card.

If the PAN is not linked to an Aadhaar, the PAN card will become inactive. This inactivity prevents users from making various financial transactions and taking advantage of government schemes.

A fine of Rs 500 was imposed for those who missed the initial deadline, with a new deadline set for June 2022. After June 2022, the penalty was increased to Rs 1,000 and the deadline was extended to March 2023.

Despite these measures, many people still did not link their PAN and Aadhaar, which led to another extension to June 2023 without any further increase in the fee. As of now, those who want to save their PAN card from being deactivated have to pay a fee of Rs 1,000 to complete the linking process.

A whopping sum of Rs 2,125 crore has been collected from late fees for linking PAN and Aadhaar cards. This shows that lakhs of individuals have contributed thousands of crores of rupees to the government exchequer by paying late fees to link their PAN and Aadhaar.
