PAN Card Update: Will the new PAN Card work like an Aadhaar Card, why is the government promoting it?
PAN 2.0: The government has decided to upgrade the old PAN Card to bring transparency in financial transactions, annual income, the banking sector, government schemes, and income tax returns. For this, the central government is going to start the PAN 2.0 project.
Now many questions must be arising in the minds of the people, including what will have to be applied for a new PAN card, will the old PAN cards be ruined by the PAN 2.0 project, and how will transparency come with the new PAN card? All these questions are bound to arise, but the biggest question of all this is whether the new PAN card will be used like Aadhaar. If you also have some such questions, then here we are telling you about all these.
Why did Aadhaar become so powerful?
After the fake Indian identity cards were used by Pakistani terrorists in the 2007 Mumbai attacks, the government felt the need for a unique identification number for every citizen of the country. After this, the central government laid the foundation of the Aadhaar card, which has become the most important document in today's time.
If you want to understand the necessity of an Aadhaar card in simple words, then you can understand that an Aadhaar card is required for everything from getting cheap government ration to getting a passport to go abroad. If you go to open an account in a bank or post office, then an Aadhaar card is used there too. At the same time, the government has also made it mandatory to link a PAN card with an Aadhaar card.
Will PAN 2.0 also follow this path?
PAN 2.0 will be more hi-tech than the Aadhaar card. It is advisable to update the biometrics of the Aadhaar card every 10 years, but there will be no need to update PAN 2.0. The new PAN card will have a QR code, which will make PAN verification easier.
Along with this, PAN 2.0 will have many such features which will help prevent financial fraud. If your PAN card is already made, then there is no need to make a PAN card again and the old PAN card will remain valid. The new PAN 2.0 will be an upgraded version of the old PAN, people do not need to change their PAN number.
