Over 23,000 teachers to be recruited in UP soon, 4,512 schools have vacant positions.

The Uttar Pradesh government is soon going to begin the recruitment process for over 23,000 teaching positions. Recruitment will take place for the positions of TGT, PGT, Headmaster, and Principal in 4,512 schools across the state.

The Uttar Pradesh government is soon going to begin the recruitment process for over 23,000 teaching positions. Recruitment will take place for the positions of TGT, PGT, Headmaster, and Principal in 4,512 aided secondary schools across the state. Nearly all districts in the state have submitted details of vacant positions to the Directorate of Education for these recruitments. This recruitment will be conducted through the Uttar Pradesh Extraordinary and Special Selection Commission. According to the Directorate of Education, a total of 22,201 vacant positions have been reported from 71 districts so far. This number is expected to increase to over 23,000 after data from the remaining four districts is received.

Vacancy details will be sent by March 31, 2026.

The Uttar Pradesh Education Department has directed all District Magistrates to submit a report after examining all vacant positions, excluding those reserved for transfer in 2025-26. The Commission requested information for new recruitments on July 29, and the deadline for submitting vacancies has been set as March 31, 2026. The recruitment process is expected to begin after March 31. The Directorate of Education will soon upload all recruitments to the UPESSC online portal. According to the Deputy Education Director of Uttar Pradesh, every district has been instructed to ensure that the information submitted is accurate to ensure complete transparency in the recruitment process.

The jobs of over 30,000 teachers are also at risk.

Following the Supreme Court's order regarding the appointment of teachers with B.Ed. Over 30,000 primary teachers are awaiting a six-month bridge course. This course, organized by NIOS, is expected to begin on December 1st. The NCTE approved this course on July 2nd, 2025. However, the Basic Education Department has not yet officially announced its implementation. The Supreme Court has stated that B.Ed. Teachers appointed before August 11th, 2023, must complete this bridge course within one year. If teachers fail to complete the course, their appointments will be considered cancelled. Therefore, all eyes are now focused on the notification issued by the government.
