Order chargers, medicines, and essentials while on a moving train—Blinkit will deliver them

If you forget to pack essential items for your train journey, you can now place an order via Blinkit while on board, and your items will be delivered to you shortly.

Things have changed significantly. If you travel by train, you are likely already aware that you can order food using apps like Swiggy or Zomato; delivery partners will bring the food directly to your seat at a designated railway station. Now, if you happen to forget essentials—such as medicines or a phone charger—there is no need to worry.

You can now place orders through the Blinkit app, and your items will be delivered to you in no time. In short, forgetting to pack something important is no longer a cause for concern.

Partnership with Blinkit

The Salem Division of Southern Railway has entered into an agreement with the quick-commerce platform Blinkit. Please note that this service is not yet available everywhere; the Railways has launched it as a pilot project. If the project proves successful, its expansion to other major railway stations may be considered in the future.

Getting essentials delivered made easy

To use this service, passengers must place their orders via the Blinkit app before the train arrives at the station. Once the train stops at the station, you can collect your items from the designated delivery point. So, how exactly do you order items while on a train?

How to place an order on a moving train?

You can place an order by following a few simple steps:

• First, open the Blinkit app and enter the location of the railway station where you wish to collect your items.
• Next, add the items you need—such as medicines, a charger, or anything else—to your cart.
• When placing the order, provide your train number and coach or berth details, if the app offers an option to do so.
• Once the train arrives at the station, you can collect your items from the designated delivery point.

Please note: Before placing an order, verify the station location and check if delivery service is available there, as this facility is not currently offered at all railway stations.
