If you are a 10th pass and looking for a government job, then there is good news for you. India Post has released the notification for the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment 2026. Under this recruitment, thousands of young people across the country will get an opportunity to work in the post office. The special thing is that there will be no written exam or interview in this recruitment; selection will be done directly on the basis of the Class 10 merit. Candidates will get a chance to be included in the merit list based on their Class 10 marks. People from small towns and rural areas can also apply for this recruitment, as the posts have been distributed according to local language and regional needs.

How many posts will be filled?

A total of 28,740 posts will be filled under this recruitment drive. These include the posts of Branch Postmaster, Assistant Branch Postmaster, and Gramin Dak Sevak. The number of these posts has been determined according to different states and postal circles, so that recruitment can be done according to local needs. Candidates can apply according to their region.

Eligibility

For this recruitment, the candidate must have passed Class 10 from a recognized board. In addition, knowledge of the local language of the state or postal circle for which the application is being made is mandatory. This is necessary so that daily work and communication in the postal department can be carried out properly.

Age Limit

The age of the candidate for this recruitment should be between 18 and 40 years. Age relaxation will be given to candidates from reserved categories as per government rules.

How much salary will be paid?

The selected candidate in this recruitment will receive a salary according to the post. For GDS and ABPM posts, a salary of approximately Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 24,470 per month has been fixed.  For the BPM post, a salary of approximately Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 29,380 per month will be given. For this recruitment, candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories will have to pay an application fee of Rs. 100.  However, the application is free for SC, ST, PwD (Persons with Disabilities), and female candidates.

Selection Process

There will be no written examination or interview for this recruitment. Candidates will be selected directly based on their Class 10th merit. Candidates who have secured higher marks will be given priority.
