The month of October is full of festivals. Several major festivals, from Dussehra to Diwali, are falling in October, which has significantly increased the number of bank holidays. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks across the country will be closed for a total of 21 days in October. If you have any important banking-related work to do, please review this calendar carefully to avoid any inconvenience.

October 2025 Bank Holiday Calendar
October begins with a festive season. Banks will be closed in many states on October 1st for Vijayadashami (Dussehra), Ayudha Puja, and Durga Puja. This holiday will apply to major states like Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu.

On October 2nd, banks will be closed across the country due to Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday. Following this, on October 3rd and 4th, states like Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Sikkim will observe holidays for Dussehra and Durga Puja.

Banks are also closed on weekends, so banks will be closed every Sunday (October 5, 12, 19, and 26) and the second and fourth Saturdays (October 11 and 25). October 6 will be a holiday for Lakshmi Puja in Odisha and West Bengal, and October 7 will be a holiday for Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Kumar Purnima in Delhi, Punjab, and Odisha.

On October 10, Karva Chauth will cause banks to be closed in Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana. October sees the most holidays during Diwali. On October 20, banks will be closed in Maharashtra, Odisha, and West Bengal for Naraka Chaturdashi or Kali Puja. Festivals like Bhai Dooj and Chitragupta Jayanti will bring holidays in Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, and Bihar on October 23. Banks will be closed on October 27th and 28th in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh for Chhath Puja. Banks will be closed on October 31st in Gujarat for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti.

Digital Banking Services Will Remain Operational
While banks will be closed for 21 days, digital banking services will remain fully operational. Online transactions are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Additionally, most ATMs have cash deposit machines, and many check deposit machines are also available outside banks. Therefore, you can complete your important work digitally even during bank holidays.
