The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a new rule regarding mobile number portability, which has come into effect from July 1. Under this new rule, now users will not be able to port their SIM card easily and they will have to wait for 7 days. This is the 9th amendment in the mobile number portability process.

TRAI has introduced this new rule to prevent mobile number-related fraud and to enhance user security and data security. The mobile number portability process has now become more strict. Earlier users could easily port their mobile number from one network to another, but now this process will require more time and investigation.

What do the new rules say?

According to the amended rules, users who want to port their SIM card will have to first submit an application and then wait for a certain period. During this new process, users will have to verify their identity and other information to ensure that their data is not misused.

Under the new rules, users will receive an OTP for verification, which they will have to use during the porting process. Although this new method may cause some inconvenience to users, TRAI has implemented it to ensure their security. This change will require mobile users to be more careful and vigilant about the security of their SIM cards and personal information.
