NTA provides major relief for JEE Main 2026 aspirants: Students with photo-ID discrepancies given until January 15th
The NTA has extended the deadline for photo verification to January 15th for candidates whose photos and identity documents have discrepancies in their JEE Main 2026 applications. Let's find out the details...
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an important notice for lakhs of students preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) 2026. This advisory is specifically for candidates whose application forms show discrepancies between the uploaded photo and the identity document. The NTA has clarified that candidates are being given more time to resolve these issues so that no student is deprived of the opportunity to take the exam.
According to the information provided by the NTA, the last date for photo verification has been extended to January 15th for candidates who applied using an identity document other than the Aadhaar card and whose documents were found to have discrepancies. The previous deadline was shorter, but the agency has provided this relief, considering the difficulties faced by the students.
The NTA has stated that a special link has been sent to the registered email IDs of candidates whose documents were found to have discrepancies. Through this link, candidates will have to upload a certificate in PDF format. This certificate will be related to their identity and photo. The NTA has also clarified that candidates will have to carry a printed copy of this certificate with them to the examination center on the day of the exam. The officials present there will physically verify this certificate to eliminate any doubts regarding the candidate's identity.
What did the NTA say?
The NTA says that this entire process is being adopted to maintain transparency and prevent fraud. The agency wants to ensure that only those candidates who have applied correctly participate in the examination. Therefore, students who have received the notification via email are advised to upload the necessary documents within the stipulated time without delay.
When will the exam be held?
The NTA has also shared important information regarding the JEE Main 2026 examination. According to the agency, the JEE Main 2026 Session-1 examination will be conducted between January 21 and January 30. This exam will be held in computer-based mode at various examination centers across the country. Before the exam, a city intimation slip will be issued to inform candidates about their examination city. This slip will be available on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in, and candidates will be able to download it using their application number and password.
