UPI Payment Rule Change: To make digital payments more secure, NPCI i.e. National Payments Corporation of India has issued a new rule for UPI transactions. This new rule will come into effect from June 30, 2025. After which the method of UPI transaction will change. With this, users will be saved from fraud. Let's know what is going to change and what will be the benefit of this.

Now the real name registered in the bank will be visible.

So far, when we make a payment to someone through UPI, the same name appears on the mobile app that we have saved on our phone. This increases the possibility of fraud many times. Scammers cheat people by putting fake names or photos. But now this will not happen.

According to the new rule, whenever you make a payment to someone, whether you scan the QR code, and enter your mobile number or UPI ID, you will see the real name of that person registered in the bank. This will make it easier to confirm whether you are sending money to the right person or not.

Where will this rule be applicable?
This rule will apply to two types of transactions:

Person to Person (P2P): When a person makes payment to another person.

Person to Merchant (P2M): When payment is made to a shopkeeper, cafe, or any service.

Every time before making a transaction, the app will automatically show the receiver's name registered with the bank.

What will be the benefit of this new system?

Showing the real name will make it easier to identify before sending the payment, which will control fraud.

Now the risk of money being transferred to someone else by mistake will be reduced.

This change will give people more confidence about digital payment.

What should users do?

Every time before making a payment, read the name that is appearing on the app carefully. If the name seems unfamiliar or something seems wrong, do not make the payment. Avoid scanning any unknown QR code and in case of any problem, immediately contact the helpline of your bank or payment app.
