e-RCT System: Indian Railways is taking a major digital step in claims-related matters. Passengers will no longer have to wait long hours or run around offices to receive compensation. A new e-RCT system is being launched, a completely online platform.

The entire process, from filing a claim to hearing and adjudication, will be completed digitally. The Railways' aim is to minimize inconvenience to the common man. Work that was previously stuck on paper and in physical files will now be tracked online. Learn how the system works.

What is the e-RCT system?

e-RCT, or Electronic Railway Claims Tribunal, is an online system. Where anyone can file a compensation case from the comfort of their home. Previously, applications for accidents, loss of luggage, theft, fare disputes, or other compensation matters required a visit to the tribunal office.

Now, this process will be digitalized. Claims related to railway accidents, luggage damage, refund disputes, and other compensation claims can be submitted online on this platform. People will now have a single system for claims from small to large.

How will a claim be filed?

Filing a case on this platform will be step-by-step. Anyone can log in and apply from anywhere, anytime. A digital checklist will be provided during the application process to ensure that essential information is not missed. All relevant documents can be uploaded directly to the portal.

Once a case is filed, the system will automatically allocate it to the relevant officer, reducing the scope for manual delays. Notices, replies, and other documents will also be available online, ensuring applicants receive updates at every stage.

The e-hearing facility will be available

A major feature of the e-RCT system is the e-hearing facility. Hearings will now be conducted via video conference, reducing the need to visit the tribunal office. This will save both time and cost. Most importantly, all case details, from the application to the final decision, will be visible on a single platform, directly benefiting millions of passengers.
