A notification has been released for the recruitment of 2,607 PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) posts. The application process begins on September 18, and candidates can apply via the Commission’s official website until October 17.

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has issued the recruitment notification for 2,607 PGT posts. The online application process for this recruitment (Advertisement No. 06/2026) starts on September 18, and eligible candidates can apply through the Commission’s official website until October 17. This recruitment is for the post of Lecturer in non-government aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh. Of the total 2,607 posts, 2,329 are for boys’ schools and 278 are for girls’ schools; recruitment will be conducted across 26 subjects.

Applications Begin on September 18

To apply for the PGT recruitment, candidates must first complete a ‘One-Time Registration’ process, which can be done online. The deadline for submitting applications and fees is October 17, 2026, while the facility to make corrections to the form will remain available until October 21. The Commission has advised candidates to read the notification and instructions thoroughly before applying. Once the form is finally submitted, changes to certain critical details will not be permitted; therefore, all details must be carefully verified before submission.

Recruitment Across 26 Subjects

This recruitment drive covers a total of 2,607 Lecturer posts. Of these, 2,329 posts are for boys’ schools and 278 are for girls’ schools. Recruitment will be conducted across 26 subjects, including Hindi, English, Economics, Sociology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, History, Psychology, Sanskrit, Urdu, Geography, Biology, and Civics. The Commission has also noted that the number of posts is subject to change.

Who is Eligible for PGT Recruitment?

For most subjects, candidates are required to hold a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject and a B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution. However, specific educational qualifications have been prescribed for certain subjects. For Physical Education, a graduation degree along with an M.P.Ed. qualification is required. There are distinct eligibility criteria for subjects such as Painting/Arts and Music; therefore, candidates should check the notification for the specific requirements pertaining to their subject.

Age Limit, Application Fee, and Salary

The minimum age for this recruitment is 21 years, and the maximum age is 62 years. Age will be calculated as of July 1, 2026. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will receive age relaxation in accordance with the rules. For the PGT recruitment, candidates in the General, OBC, EWS, and other specified categories must pay a fee of ₹1,500, while the fee for SC and ST candidates is ₹750. Candidates with disabilities (PwD) are required to pay a fee of ₹500.

PGT Exam to be Held in December

The written examination for the UPESSC PGT recruitment is proposed for December 15 and 16, 2026. The recruitment process comprises a written examination and an interview. According to the exam pattern, the written test will consist of 120 objective-type questions: 30 questions on General Knowledge and 90 questions on the relevant subject. The exam carries a total of 360 marks and has a duration of two hours. There is a provision for negative marking for incorrect answers or for selecting more than one option. An interview will follow the written examination, and the merit list will be prepared based on the performance in both stages. PGT teachers will receive a salary and benefits under Pay Matrix Level-8, with a salary range of ₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100.
