No more separate portal for PF passbooks, EPFO offers major relief.

EPFO News: EPFO has launched a new Passbook Lite feature for PF members, allowing them to view their passbook, balance, and transfer status through a single login. Members will also be able to download Annexure K themselves, increasing transparency and convenience.
EPFO News: The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has taken a major step to facilitate employees and PF account holders. Members will now be able to access all key services related to their PF account through a single login. This will increase transparency, reduce complaints, and simplify the member experience.
Introduction of the 'Passbook Lite' feature
EPFO has launched a new feature called 'Passbook Lite' on the member portal. This allows members to view a simple summary of their PF passbook, contributions, withdrawals, and balance directly on the portal. Previously, accessing passbooks required a separate portal, but now this will be done directly from the member portal. However, if members wish to view complete details and a graphical view of their passbook, they can also use the existing passbook portal.
Improvements in the PF Transfer Process
Previously, when employees changed jobs, their PF account was transferred to the new employer's PF office online using Form 13. During this process, the previous PF office would prepare a Transfer Certificate (Annexure K) and send it to the new office. Previously, the Annexure K was shared only between PF offices, and members could only access this document upon request. Under the reform, members will now be able to download the Annexure K in PDF format directly from the Member Portal.
Member Benefits
This change will provide several benefits to EPF members, such as:
Online Tracking: They will be able to track the status of their transfer application from the comfort of their homes.
Transparency: The entire PF transfer process will become clear and reliable.
Verification: Members will be able to easily verify that their balance and service period have been correctly updated in the new account.
Digital Records: A permanent digital record of Annexure K will be preserved for the future. This will play a crucial role, especially in calculating EPS (Employee Pension Scheme) benefits.
Ease of Living: This initiative is a step by the EPFO to simplify the lives of employees, bring transparency, and increase trust.
Why is this step important?
Millions of employees in India are enrolled in the EPF scheme. There have been frequent complaints that the process of viewing passbooks or transferring PF is cumbersome and time-consuming. This new initiative will simplify this process, and employees will feel more control and transparency over their hard-earned money.
