No More Fraud Using Your Aadhaar Card! Share Your VID Instead of Your Actual Aadhaar Number...
Aadhaar Card Virtual ID: From opening a new bank account to obtaining a new SIM card, an Aadhaar card is required almost everywhere. In today's times, the Aadhaar card is considered the most essential document. Consequently, people often worry that scammers might use their Aadhaar numbers or personal details to commit fraud or deception against them. To safeguard yourself against this risk, you can utilize a VID. A VID is a Virtual ID—a unique 16-digit identifier—that you can provide instead of sharing your actual Aadhaar number. Let's explore the VID in detail and learn how you can generate one...
What is a VID?
The Virtual ID is referred to as a VID. It acts as a protective shield for your Aadhaar card number. With its help, Aadhaar-related tasks can be completed without ever having to share your actual Aadhaar number. For instance, when you provide your VID at a bank or a SIM card store, the Aadhaar verification process is completed; however, the other party does not gain access to your actual Aadhaar number. This significantly reduces the likelihood of falling victim to scams or fraud associated with your Aadhaar card.
How to Generate Your Aadhaar Card's VID?
Generating a VID for your Aadhaar card is an extremely simple process. You can follow the steps outlined below to do so:
To generate a VID, visit the official UIDAI website at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/.
Once on the website, log in using your Aadhaar card number.
Next, click on "Generate Virtual ID" on the dashboard.
You will then be presented with two options: click on "Generate ID."
Your VID will subsequently appear on your screen and will also be sent to your registered mobile number.
Important Note:
A key feature of the Virtual ID is that you can generate as many VIDs as you wish. As soon as you generate a new VID, the previous VID becomes invalid.
