CNG Rules: Amidst rising pollution in Delhi, a major change has been implemented for CNG vehicle owners. CNG will now be available only under certain conditions. Check your essential documents before leaving home.

CNG Rules: With the onset of winter in the national capital, Delhi, air pollution levels have risen sharply. Fog, smog, and toxic air are once again affecting people's health. Considering this serious situation, the Delhi government has now taken strict measures for CNG vehicle owners as well. Until now, CNG vehicles had been exempt from some pollution regulations. But this time, the government has made it clear that the rules will apply equally to all.

If you drive a CNG vehicle in Delhi, be sure to check an important document before leaving home. Otherwise, you might have to return empty-handed from the CNG station instead of the petrol pump. This government decision is directly related to pollution control and its impact will be clearly visible on the roads in the coming days. Find out which document is required.

No CNG without a valid PUC certificate

According to the notification issued by the Delhi government, from Thursday, December 18, 2025, only those vehicles with a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate will be given CNG in Delhi. This decision was announced by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) in its official statement. IGL stated that if a vehicle owner fails to show a valid PUC certificate during refueling, they will not be given CNG. The company has appealed to all consumers to update their PUC certificates in time. This step aims to curb the rising air pollution in Delhi.

Restrictions also on vehicles from outside Delhi

This is the first time that such strict restrictions have been imposed on CNG-powered vehicles. Delhi's Environment Minister, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, stated that no vehicle below BS-VI standards, whether running on petrol, diesel, or CNG, will be allowed to enter Delhi. This includes privately registered vehicles in Delhi. A one-day exemption was given until December 17. However, the rules will be fully enforced after that. Helpline numbers 011-25844444 and 1095 have also been issued for drivers coming from other cities in the NCR region. The police have clearly stated that the ban will apply to all fuel types. Therefore, it is extremely important to check all vehicle-related documents before entering Delhi.
