No heavy bags, no weight of books, UP to have 10 days of Bagless School
Bagless School: The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to implement Bagless School for children in grades 6 to 8 in the state. This will now create 10 days a year when children will attend school without bags. No heavy bags, no weight of books. Just a day of fun learning. This initiative has been taken under the National Educational Research and Training Program (NEP) 2020, so that children can learn real and practical things instead of rote learning.
Bagless School: In a major and interesting step, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched a 10-day Bagless School Program for children in grades 6 to 8 in all government schools across the state. The primary objective of this initiative is to reduce academic pressure on children and provide them with a fun and easy learning environment. This initiative is part of the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), which emphasizes engaging children in hands-on learning rather than rote learning.
Anandam Guidelines for Bagless Schools
SCERT has developed a guideline called "Anandam" for this initiative. The name itself suggests that its purpose is not to scare children away from studies, but to teach them through play and enjoyment. During these bagless days, children won't just be seen opening books; they will be engaging, understanding, and learning in a fun way. The activities will expand their thinking, creativity, and confidence.

A complete package of fun and useful activities is prepared for children during these 10 days. Skill-based learning sessions will teach children things that will truly be useful in life. Additionally, there will be creative and themed workshops, allowing children to unleash their imaginations and soar.
Under this program, educational trips will be organized, allowing children to step outside their books and explore the real world. Group activities will also be conducted, fostering teamwork and friendship. This program is designed in line with the New Education Policy (NEP 2020).
Saturdays Become 'Fun Day'
This new system makes Saturdays unique. Children will have the opportunity to learn in a completely different way. Some will engage in play, some in outdoor activities, some will enjoy picnics, and some will excel in speeches or debates. This day of the week will refresh children, freeing them from the stress of studies.
The purpose of these bagless days is clear: to provide children with relaxation, fun, and understanding. This will not only keep them engaged in their studies, but also help them discover their interests, make new friends, and learn without worries. The government claims that this will reduce children's stress and make coming to school fun, not boring.
