No charges for now: Withdraw cash for free from any bank's ATM for 3 days – SBI

A bank strike is underway from September 28 to 30, and amidst this, SBI has shared some good news with its customers. SBI customers will be able to withdraw cash from any bank's ATM without incurring transaction charges.

If you hold an account with SBI, you should be aware of the bank's latest update. Specifically, SBI customers will not be charged ATM transaction fees during the three-day bank strike taking place from September 28 to September 30, 2026. During these three days, SBI customers can withdraw cash from the ATM of any bank.

If you need cash, you do not have to search specifically for an SBI ATM; you can withdraw money from other banks' ATMs. SBI will not levy any ATM transaction charges.

On which days will ATM charges be waived?

SBI has announced that ATM charges on transactions made on September 28, 29, and 30 will be waived. This decision has been taken in view of the three-day bank strike.

SBI customers can withdraw cash from any bank's ATM during these three days without paying any transaction charges. The only requirement is that the ATM must have cash available.

Why is the bank strike taking place?

The UFBU has announced a three-day bank strike from September 28 to 30. Bank unions are demanding the implementation of a five-day work week.

There is another important update for customers. The government has directed public sector banks and regional rural banks to remain open on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
