Niva Bupa Health Insurance on Monday said it has suspended the cashless treatment facility for Max Hospitals across India. This will cause problems for thousands of policyholders. After the insurance company's decision, Niva Bupa policyholders will not be able to avail a cashless facility at Max Hospitals. Now they will have to pay in cash for treatment. After this, he can apply for reimbursement in Niva Bupa. Max Hospitals has not yet commented on the matter.
In a statement to IANS, Dr. Bhavatosh Mishra, Director and COO of Niva Bupa Health Insurance, said that the company's agreement with Max expires in May 2025. No agreement has been reached in the talks for premium revision, due to which cashless services were suspended. Mishra said, "We would like to inform you that our cashless services are currently not available at Max Hospitals." Dr Bhavatosh Mishra said that insurance companies like Star Health and Care Health are also facing similar problems with Max Hospitals. Mishra said, "Our agreement with Max ended in May, and tariff revision was being discussed, but we could not reach a mutual consensus. As a result, cashless services are temporarily suspended at Max Hospitals."
This problem is not limited to Niva Bupa only. Policyholders of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance and Care Health Insurance will also not be able to avail themselves of cashless services in many hospitals from September 1. The Association of Healthcare Providers (India) or AHPI has expressed deep concern to online health insurance companies over the suspension of cashless services in many hospitals. There were also reports that AHPI has issued an advisory regarding the suspension of cashless services for these policyholders. However, there has been no official statement from the association.

In its notification, Niva Bupa said that this step has been taken after all other options were exhausted. The insurance company told the customers that cashless services are still available in more than 10,000 of its partner hospitals across the country.
