The days of long waits at toll plazas may soon be a thing of the past for regular highway commuters. Starting August 15, 2025, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will roll out a FASTag Annual Pass designed to make highway travel faster, more convenient, and cost-efficient.

Under this new plan, commuters will be able to pay a one-time fee for the entire year, covering up to 200 toll crossings without repeated recharges. This move aims to save both time and fuel while reducing travel stress for frequent travelers.

What is the FASTag Annual Pass?

The FASTag Annual Pass is an exclusive offer for private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. For ₹3,000, users can prepay for up to 200 toll transactions in a single year. Once the limit is reached, travelers can easily recharge to continue using the service.

This system eliminates the need for multiple top-ups throughout the year and allows for uninterrupted passage through toll plazas using existing FASTag technology.

How to Get the Annual Pass

You don’t need to purchase a separate FASTag for the Annual Pass—your current FASTag will work. Here’s how to activate it:

  1. Log in to the Rajmarg Yatra app or the NHAI official website.

  2. Enter your vehicle number and FASTag ID.

  3. Pay ₹3,000 via UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking.

  4. Once activated, you’ll receive a confirmation message starting August 15.

Where Will the Pass Work?

The FASTag Annual Pass will be valid only on toll plazas operated under the NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Popular routes where it will apply include:

  • Delhi–Mumbai Expressway

  • Mumbai–Nashik Highway

  • Mumbai–Surat Highway

  • Other national highways and expressways under NHAI

It will not be valid on state highways or municipal toll plazas. At those locations, toll charges will be deducted from your FASTag balance as usual.

Who Can Use It?

  • Only for registered private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans)

  • Not applicable for commercial vehicles

  • Non-transferable and linked to a single vehicle

  • No refunds available once purchased

Benefits of the Annual Pass

  • No more repeated recharges for regular travelers

  • Time savings due to quicker toll clearance

  • Fuel savings by reducing idling and wait times

  • Convenience for daily commuters on long routes

For office-goers, transport professionals, or anyone frequently traveling across national highways, this pass offers a cost-effective solution to manage toll expenses.

Important Dates and Details

  • Launch date: August 15, 2025
