Now the time limit for advance ticket booking (Advance Ticket Booking Timing) has been reduced from 120 to 60 days.
That means now you will be able to book train tickets online within two months instead of four months.
This rule is coming into effect from November 1, 2024

What will be the impact on bookings made 3 or 4 months in advance?
Now you must be wondering whether this rule will affect those who have made bookings 3 or 4 months ago? So let us tell you that the Railways has made it clear in its order that the reduction in the time limit for advance reservation of tickets (IRCTC Advance Ticket Reservation) will not affect the bookings made before 31 October 2024.
The order states that “all bookings made till October 31 under the 120-day Advance Reservation Period (ARP) will remain intact. The new rule will be applicable only on bookings made from November 1.”
There is no change in the advance reservation deadline for these trains
According to the Railways, there will be no change in the 365-day ticket booking limit for foreign tourists. The Railways has also clarified that there will be no change in the time limit for advance reservation (IRCTC Advance Ticket Booking) for some day express trains like Taj Express and Gomti Express. At the same time, the Railways said that despite the reduction in the time limit for advance reservation, cancellation of bookings beyond the 60-day advance reservation period will be allowed.
