New Rule for Agniveers! Marriage Prohibited Before Becoming Permanent Soldiers, Guidelines Issued
The Indian Army has introduced a new rule regarding the permanent recruitment of Agniveers, under which candidates will be disqualified from selection if they marry before receiving permanent appointment.
Millions of young people recruited into the army under the Agniveer scheme share a single dream: to become permanent soldiers in the Indian Army after four years of service. Now, a new and important rule has been issued by the Indian Army for these young people, which every Agniveer must know. This rule directly impacts their personal lives, as it provides clear guidelines regarding marriage.
The Indian Army has decided that Agniveers who wish to become permanent soldiers cannot marry until they receive a permanent appointment in the army. If an Agniveer marries during this process or before becoming a permanent soldier, they will be considered ineligible for permanent service. Such Agniveers will neither be able to apply for permanent soldier positions nor participate in the selection process.
This new rule has raised several questions among Agniveers. The biggest question is when they can marry so that their dream of becoming a permanent soldier can be fulfilled and their personal lives can also move forward. The army has clarified the situation on this matter as well.
Must Refrain from Marriage
According to the new rule, Agniveers can only marry after they are appointed as permanent soldiers in the Indian Army. This means they must refrain from marriage until the final results of the permanent appointment process are announced. However, they won't have to wait too long. After completing their four years of service, Agniveers will have to wait approximately 4 to 6 months for the entire permanent recruitment process to be completed.
When did this begin?
The Agniveer scheme was launched in 2022. The first batch of recruits under this scheme is now about to complete its four years of service. The service period of the Agniveers from the 2022 batch will end around June and July 2026. It is estimated that the first batch comprised approximately 20,000 young people, who are now about to be discharged from service.
About 25 percent of these Agniveers will get the opportunity to become permanent soldiers in the Indian Army. The selection will be based on physical fitness, written examination, and other criteria. The selection process will be entirely based on merit and performance. Those Agniveers who succeed in this process will be given permanent appointments in the army.
However, the process of becoming a permanent soldier does not conclude on the same day their service ends. Agniveers will have to apply for this, and then the entire selection process will take place. This process can typically take 4 to 6 months. During this period, the army has made it clear that no Agniveer should get married until the final list is released.
When will the restriction be lifted?
According to reports, the army states that if any Agniveer gets married during this period, they will be disqualified from the race to become a permanent soldier. Such a candidate's application will not be accepted, regardless of their qualifications. Therefore, Agniveers have been advised to understand and follow this rule seriously.
However, those Agniveers who are selected as permanent soldiers will have complete freedom to marry after receiving their appointment. Once they join the army permanently, they can marry whenever they wish, according to their convenience and desire. This restriction will not apply to them at that time.
