Tech giant Google is working on a new experimental app for Windows users. This app, called the "Google app for Windows," will be rolled out through Google Search Labs. The company claims that this app will provide a fast and easy search experience without interrupting your work. With this app, you'll be able to not only search the web but also quickly find files saved on your computer, files in Google Drive, and installed apps.

Easy Installation and Shortcuts
This Windows app from Google installs just like Chrome, and requires signing in with a Google account to use it. The app can be opened with the Alt+Space shortcut, where you'll find a search bar. You can search for anything, be it files or web results, in this bar. This search bar looks very similar to macOS's Spotlight search. It also features a dark mode to provide a better experience for users working at night.

Multiple Search Modes
The app features tabs like AI Mode, Images, News, Videos, and Shopping, all of which are easily switchable. After installation, the app also places a search bar on your desktop, which you can drag, drop, and resize.

Similar to Google Search, detailed replies are provided by AI Mode. You can disable AI Mode or change the shortcut. This option is available in the app's Configuration menu.

Google Lens Integration
The most notable feature is Google Lens, which allows you to search for any image on the screen. Everything from solving math homework to translating text and images is possible with Lens. This new Google Windows app is currently available to English users in the US. To run it, you must have a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC or laptop.
