New feature added to Income Tax e-filing portal, many information will be available easily
Income Tax Portal New Feature: The Income Tax Department has launched a new feature on its e-filing portal to ease the process of tracking pending tax proceedings for taxpayers. The new feature on the portal is called e-Proceeding. This feature will allow taxpayers to navigate through various notices, letters and information issued by the Income Tax Department. This will reduce the compliance burden on taxpayers and the need to visit the Income Tax Office will also be eliminated.
Through the 'e-Proceeding' tab, registered users will be able to view and respond to various notices and communications issued by the assessing officers, Central Processing Center (CPC) or any other income tax authority. These include defect notices under section 139(9), intimations under section 245, prima facie adjustments under section 143(1)(a) and suo motu rectification under section 154. For this process, users will have to log in to the e-filing portal with their credentials.
How to log in, know the process
Users have to log in to the e-filing portal with their credentials.
Then reach the 'Pending Actions' section.
Then you can go to 'e-Proceeding'.
Users can then choose whether they are responding as an individual or as an authorized representative.
What things will be needed
Users must have an active PAN card.
Must have a valid user ID.
Password for e-filing portal.
Related notice, information or letter received from Income Tax.
Authorized representatives may need to be authorized to act on behalf of taxpayers.
In some cases, an active TAN may also be required.
They can access the Pending Actions section and navigate to 'e-Proceedings'. Users can select the appropriate option depending on whether they are responding as individuals or authorized representatives. To use this service, users require an active PAN, a valid user ID and password for the e-filing portal and any relevant notice, information or letter from the Income Tax Department. Additionally, authorized representatives may need to be authorized to act on behalf of the taxpayer and, in some cases, an active TAN may be required. This new feature of income tax can be a relief for taxpayers.
