The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced new facilities for PF account holders. Account holders can now access their PF balance, passbook, and details of their last five transactions via WhatsApp. This will reduce the need to visit an EPFO office for minor PF-related inquiries.

Additionally, funds in certain inactive PF accounts with a balance of up to ₹1,000 will be settled automatically. Let’s look at how you can check your PF balance on WhatsApp.

How to check your PF balance on WhatsApp?

Using the EPFO’s new WhatsApp service is quite simple. You do not need to log in to any website; you can access your PF account information directly from your mobile phone. Follow these steps to check your PF balance:

First, save the official EPFO WhatsApp number, 8796441800, on your mobile phone.
Open WhatsApp and send a message saying "Hi" to this number.
Select your preferred language when prompted by the chatbot.
Choose the "PF Balance" or "Check Balance" option from the menu.
Verify your identity by following the provided instructions. Enter the OTP when requested.

Once the verification is complete, your PF balance will appear on the screen.
Through this same WhatsApp menu, you can also access your PF passbook and details of your last five transactions, making it easier to keep track of your account balance and recent activity. For security reasons, never share your UAN password, banking password, or OTP with any unknown number on WhatsApp.

Automatic settlement for accounts with balances up to ₹1,000

The EPFO has also introduced an automatic settlement facility for inactive PF accounts. For eligible inactive accounts that have a balance of up to ₹1,000 and are verified via Aadhaar, the funds will be transferred automatically.

Employees will not need to file a separate claim for this process. Once the necessary verification of identity and bank accounts is completed, the EPFO will transfer the eligible amounts to the beneficiaries' accounts. This initiative is expected to benefit approximately one lakh accounts, which collectively hold a total sum of ₹5 crore.

EPFO holds a fund of ₹32 lakh crore

The EPFO has over 8 crore members. Through the contributions of its members, the organization has accumulated a fund of ₹32 lakh crore. The second phase of the EPFO headquarters was also inaugurated on its foundation day.

Efforts have been made to simplify PF-related services through a new WhatsApp service and the automatic settlement of inactive accounts.
