New Entry-Exit Rules at New Delhi Railway Station: What You Need to Know
If you are traveling from New Delhi Railway Station, you must be aware of the latest entry and exit rule changes implemented by Indian Railways. These changes, which came into effect immediately, aim to streamline passenger movement and enhance safety following a recent accident.
Why the Changes?
With the influx of passengers traveling to Maha Kumbh, New Delhi station has been experiencing heavy crowding, especially at Paharganj and Ajmeri Gate entry points. A stampede-like situation occurred following the announcement of a train to Prayagraj, prompting authorities to take immediate action.
Key Changes in Entry & Exit Rules
-
Dedicated Platform for Maha Kumbh Special Trains
- All special trains to Prayagraj will now depart exclusively from Platform No. 16.
- Earlier, these trains operated from various empty platforms, causing confusion and crowd congestion.
-
Fixed Entry and Exit Points
- Passengers boarding Prayagraj special trains can only enter through Ajmeri Gate.
- No entry from Paharganj for these trains. If you mistakenly arrive at Paharganj, you must go back to Ajmeri Gate.
-
Entry Only for Confirmed Ticket Holders
- Only passengers with confirmed tickets for trains to Prayagraj will be allowed entry.
- For other trains, passengers can enter from both Paharganj and Ajmeri Gate.
Sangam Station Closed Until February 26
In another major decision, Indian Railways has extended the closure of Sangam Station until February 26. Initially, the closure was planned until February 14, then extended to February 16, but now the date has been pushed further to manage the massive Maha Kumbh crowd effectively.
Plan Your Journey Accordingly
Passengers traveling via New Delhi Railway Station are advised to follow these new rules to avoid last-minute confusion and inconvenience. Railways has urged travelers to arrive early, check platform details, and use the correct entry point to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey.
