Cybercriminals trap users in new ways. As technology is progressing, online scams are also increasing rapidly. Now cybercriminals are targeting OTT platform Netflix users. Cybercriminals are cheating Netflix users through phishing scams. In this scam, cybercriminals are sending fake emails asking users to update payment details and are directly attacking the user's bank account.

What is a Netflix scam?

The Mirror has reported in its report that cybercriminals are sending phishing emails to Netflix users. The subject of this mail is 'Please complete payment details'. On seeing the mail, it looks completely official. In this, the logo, color scheme, and font used are of Netflix only.

As soon as the user opens this email, he gets an alert that his Netflix account has been stopped due to a problem with the payment details. Users have been given a link in the mail, clicking on which they have been asked to share the payment details.

As soon as users click on the link given in the mail, they are redirected to a fake Netflix login page. After this, they are asked for information like Netflix credentials, and credit-debit card details, which scammers use for wrong activities.

Follow these safety tips.

Before opening any mail, read the email sender's address and other details carefully.

Verify any unknown link before clicking it.

Before clicking on such a link, visit the website of the source and check the domain. Often scammers create URLs that look like the original one.

Netflix or any other company does not ask customers for details like passwords or banking through the mail.

If you have also shared your details by falling prey to such a mail, then change all your passwords immediately.
