UP Board Exam 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (UP Board) has taken a major decision to initiate strict action against teachers who remain absent from exam duty during the 2026 board exams. The Board has clearly stated that any teacher who remains absent from duty will face immediate action. This step has been taken to bring discipline to the examination system.

The Board has stated that in recent times, many teachers have been absent from exam duty without any valid reason, increasing the risk of disruption in the conduct of exams. Action will now be taken against all such teachers under the "zero tolerance" policy.

What action could be taken?

A departmental inquiry will be initiated against absent teachers.

If found guilty, penalties such as pay cuts or suspension may be imposed.

Instructions have also been given to initiate legal action or file an FIR in serious cases.

Inform in case of emergency

Board officials say their aim is to conduct examinations with honesty and transparency. Teachers should take their duties seriously. If a teacher needs leave for any reason, such as a family emergency or a health emergency, they should inform the exam conducting officer. Action will be taken if they remain absent from duty without informing.

Exams starting February 18

UP Board Class 10th-12th exams have begun on February 18, 2026. The exams are being conducted in two shifts. The first shift will be from 8:30 am to 11:45 am, and the second shift will be from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm.

Thousands of students are skipping exams.

More than 5.2 million students have registered for the 2026 UP Board 10th and 12th exams, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP). A large number of students did not appear for the exams on the first day. According to statistics, over three lakh students did not appear. Thousands of students were absent on the second day as well, raising concerns among the board and parents.
