Need to update your Aadhaar card's mobile number? See the complete step-by-step process..

Is your phone number not linked to Aadhaar? Or has your old mobile number been deactivated? Be cautious. It's now crucial to update your Aadhaar-linked mobile number to avail government schemes, conduct banking transactions, and complete online verification. This 12-digit Aadhaar number, issued by the UIDAI, is one of the most important identification documents in the country. It serves as proof of identity and address. It's valid for various services, including government subsidies, banking services, school and college admissions, passports, and driving licenses.
In this context, the registered mobile number must be active to avail any online service linked to Aadhaar, as OTPs are sent to this number for all authentication purposes. If your mobile number is not updated, you won't be able to make online payments or complete verification on government portals.
Mobile number will not be updated online.
Previously, along with other information like name and address, you could also update your mobile number online on your Aadhaar card. However, UIDAI has discontinued this feature, meaning you will now have to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra to change or add a new mobile number.
This task will no longer be completed through the website or the mAadhaar app. This process will only be done offline, requiring you to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. However, you can book an appointment online for this purpose.
How to book an appointment online?
First, visit the UIDAI website and select your language.
Then click on "My Aadhaar > Get Aadhaar > Book an Appointment."
From here, select your city/location and click on "Proceed to Book Appointment."
Enter your currently registered mobile number, fill in the captcha, and generate an OTP.
Then verify the OTP and enter your Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, state, and city.
After doing this, select New Mobile Number in the Update option.
Choose a date and time slot that suits you best.
Then confirm the booking.
