Namo Bharat passengers will have food and beverage options; shops will open at this station
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) will lease out over 2,000 square meters of space at the New Ashok Nagar station of the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. This space will host shops, food outlets, and retail stores, providing new amenities for passengers.
In the near future, passengers traveling on the Namo Bharat train between Delhi and Meerut can look forward to a range of new facilities right at the station. Until now, the station has primarily served as a transit point for boarding trains and reaching destinations.
Plans are now underway to integrate the station with the daily needs of passengers. To this end, the NCRTC has proposed the introduction of commercial activities at the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat station.
Connected to the Delhi Metro
A key feature of the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat station is its strategic location. It is connected to the Delhi Metro’s New Ashok Nagar station. Furthermore, its proximity to residential and commercial hubs like Mayur Vihar and Noida ensures a steady flow of passengers.
The station offers parking for approximately 73 cars and 284 two-wheelers, along with charging facilities for electric vehicles. Provisions have also been made to cater to the needs of passengers with disabilities. Additionally, passengers can easily reach nearby areas using e-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws.
The NCRTC has invited tenders to lease out more than 2,000 square meters of commercial space at the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat station. This space will be located on the station’s concourse level—the area designated for passenger movement.
The premises could house retail stores, food and beverage outlets, lifestyle brands, and other commercial establishments, allowing passengers to shop or dine while waiting for their trains. However, details regarding which brands will open outlets here and when these facilities will become operational have not yet been disclosed. This will be determined once the tendering process is complete.
Commercial activities to expand at other stations as well
This initiative by the NCRTC is not limited to New Ashok Nagar alone. Efforts are also underway to provide commercial space at other stations, including Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, Sarai Kale Khan, Begumpul, and the stations between Partapur and Modipuram. The objective is to offer better amenities to passengers while creating new revenue streams beyond ticket sales.
Rising passenger numbers on the Namo Bharat Corridor
More than 45 million (4.5 crore) passenger trips have been recorded on the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor so far. Recently, the corridor saw over 168,000 (1.68 lakh) passenger trips in a single day—the highest figure recorded to date.
