There are major educational institutions for the Muslim community in India where 50% reservation and special courses are available. Know in which universities of the country so much reservation is available. Read how admission is done.

There are many major educational institutions in India which are built for the Muslim community. Some of these are central universities, some are state universities and some are private institutions. Among the institutions in the Delhi region, Jamia Millia Islamia is a major central university which was established in 1920. It got the status of a central university in 1988 and was given the status of a minority institution in 2011. Muslim students get 50% reservation in admission here. Jamia Hamdard is also a famous institute in the same area which specializes in Ayurveda and Unani medicine. It got the status of an honorary university in 1989 and its pharmacy education is quite famous.

This university was established before independence

Maulana Azad National Urdu University, located in Hyderabad in South India, is an important central university named after the first education minister of India. It also has minority status and till 2016 it was the only Urdu university in India. Osmania University, located in the same city, is also a historical institution established in 1918 by the Nizam of Hyderabad. It was the first university in India where the medium of instruction was Urdu, although now it is considered a secular university.

Private universities are also in the queue

B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute in Tamil Nadu is a leading private university established in 1984. It is one of the first self-financed engineering institutes in Tamil Nadu. Khaja Bandnawaz University located in Gulbarga, Karnataka is a relatively new institution established in 2018. It is named after the famous Sufi saint Bande Nawaz.

This university has been a major center of Muslim education

Among the institutions in eastern India, the oldest is Alia University in Kolkata, which was established in 1869. It is a major center of Muslim education in West Bengal and operates under the autonomous model. Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University located in Patna was established in 1998 and specializes in Arabic and Persian languages.

There are also Islamic universities in Lucknow and Jammu and Kashmir

Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Bhasha Vishwavidyalaya located in Lucknow in North India is an important state university established in 2009 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Mohammad Ali Jauhar University was established in 2006 and provides multidisciplinary education. Maulana Azad University in Jodhpur, Rajasthan was established in 2013 and has more than 8,000 students studying here. The Islamic University of Science and Technology in Jammu and Kashmir was established in 2005 and started teaching programs from 2006.

50 percent for minority community

Admission in these minority educational institutions is done on the basis of merit based on the Common Entrance Test. 50 percent of the total seats are reserved for minority communities and 50 percent for other communities. The seats left vacant in the minority quota can be filled by students from other communities.
