On the occasion of Holi, Madhya Pradesh government employees and pensioners have received significant good news. The Mohan Yadav-led state government has announced a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance (DA). This decision will directly benefit over 700,000 employees and millions of pensioners in the state. The dearness allowance has now increased from 55 percent to 58 percent. This festive relief is nothing short of a gift for employees.

The state government has clarified that Madhya Pradesh employees will now receive the same dearness allowance as the central government provides to its employees. Employee organizations had been raising this demand for a long time. Finally, the government approved it. The increased rate will be effective from April 2026, and its impact will be reflected in salaries and pensions received in May 2026. However, the government has considered it effective since July 2025. This means that employees will also receive arrears for the increased amount from July 2025 to March 2026.

Additional benefits will be provided for arrears.
The government has decided to pay the arrears in six equal installments instead of paying them all at once. This will begin in May 2026. Employees will receive an additional amount along with their monthly increased salary. This amount can be very helpful in meeting their household expenses. Given inflation, this decision will provide financial support for employees. This announcement during the festive season has brought joy to government families.

How much will the salary and pension increase be?
The question now is how much this 3 percent increase will affect the pocket. If an employee's basic salary is ₹50,000, they previously received ₹27,500 as DA at the rate of 55 percent. Now, they will receive ₹29,000 as DA at the rate of 58 percent, which means a direct monthly increase of ₹1,500. Similarly, if a pensioner's basic pension is ₹30,000, they previously received ₹16,500 as dearness relief (DR). Now, this amount will increase to Rs 17,400. This means you will receive Rs 900 more every month. Over the course of a year, this amount adds up to a substantial sum.

Double the Festival
Holi is a festival of colors and joy. In such a situation, the news of salary and pension increases has further increased the joy of employees. This decision is being considered a relief amid rising inflation. The government says that keeping employees' financial situation strong is its priority. This announcement will directly benefit not only working employees but also retired individuals. Overall, this government gift on Holi brings relief to millions of families.
