If you also talk to Meta AI and share your things, then there is big news for you. A serious report related to the app has surfaced, according to which the discovery feed of the app has inadvertently been filled with users' private conversations and requests, which have possibly been accidentally made public. Many reports have seen text chats and image prompts that appear to be extremely personal. With these posts being exposed publicly, concerns about users' privacy are deepening.

Medical, legal, and personal information public!

A TechCrunch report claims that in some posts, users were seen seeking advice on tax evasion, while some asked how to write a reference letter for an employee who is in legal trouble. In another post, someone asked, "I have red rashes on the inside of my thighs, what should I do?" All these posts were seen in the discovery feed of the Meta AI app. Wired's senior journalist Kylie Robinson also said that she saw some very personal posts, such as "Do younger women like older white men?" Senior counsel Calli Schroeder also said that she saw people sharing medical information, mental health issues, home addresses, and even information related to pending court cases in some posts.

Selfies sent for editing by AI chatbots are also becoming public.

The selfies that some users sent to Meta AI for minor changes in the picture also became public in the discovery feed. Some of these pictures were also of minors, whose hair color was changed.

Do users know that their posts are becoming public?

It is not clear whether in all these cases users were aware that their conversation was becoming public, but the nature of the questions and pictures indicates that many users probably inadvertently pressed the "post" button. Posting a conversation publicly in the Meta AI app is a two-step process. A "Share" button appears above the chat, tapping which takes you to the "Preview" page. The title of the post and the full conversation are shown here, and there's a button labeled "Post" below, although the app doesn't explicitly state anywhere that the post will be fully public.

Privacy is a big question
When the Meta AI app was launched, the company said: "As always, you're in control: nothing is shared to your feed unless you post." But these incidents have raised questions about whether the current two-step process is really enough to ensure users know what they're making public.
