Meta unveiled new AI-powered smart glasses at its annual Meta Connect 2025 event. The company attempted to demonstrate its leadership in augmented reality technology by launching Ray-Ban Display Glasses and Oakley Meta Vanguard Glasses. However, repeated demo failures during the event led to embarrassing moments for the company and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Wi-Fi Connection Blamed
The first problem arose when Zuckerberg demonstrated the Ray-Ban Display Glasses with food creator Jack Mancuso. Mancuso asked for a recipe for Korean steak sauce through the glasses. Instead of providing the correct sequence of steps, the AI system became confused and gave incorrect directions. When the AI failed to perform the task despite repeated attempts, the failure was blamed on the "Wi-Fi connection." Zuckerberg jokingly remarked, "You work hard for years, and then on launch day, the Wi-Fi fails."

Another product demo also failed.
The second major glitch occurred during a demo of the Neural Wristband. This band detects slight hand movements to send messages, receive calls, and control media. Zuckerberg successfully sent a message during the demo, but when Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth called, the glasses' interface failed to receive the call. Despite repeated attempts, the system failed to work, and Bosworth had to come on stage to handle the situation. This time, poor Wi-Fi was cited as the reason.

Meta Ray-Ban Display Glasses offer special features:
These glasses have a 20-degree field of view and a 600x600 pixel resolution.
The brightness can be adjusted from 30 to 5,000 nits, making them easier to use outdoors.

They have a 12MP camera and can record 1080p video.
The battery lasts up to 6 hours on a single charge, while the case provides 30 hours of backup.
The accompanying Meta Neural Band comes in three sizes and offers 18 hours of battery life.
