Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor Opening Date: After Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Noida, and Ghaziabad, the time has come for the inauguration of the Meerut Metro in Uttar Pradesh. On February 22nd, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not only flag off the Rapid Rail, but also known as the Namo Bharat Train, from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Meerut South. Big News About the Opening of the RRTS Corridor
The 82-kilometer-long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor will now open to the public from February 22nd. This will make travel between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut much faster and easier, significantly reducing travel time for passengers.

Initial Trains Flagged Off
Two trains will commence service from Shatabdi Nagar. One will head to Sarai Kale Khan, and the other will operate as the Meerut Metro. This will mark the official launch of the RRTS Corridor and its modern train services.

Route currently operational
Currently, a 55-km section is operational. This route runs from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South and covers 11 stations. Passengers are already enjoying convenience on this section.

Trials completed for the remaining section
Trials for the remaining section of the corridor were completed in August 2025. All safety and operational checks have been completed. The entire corridor is now fully operational.

Inauguration of a Key Station
Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat Station, one of the largest stations on the Delhi section, is now ready for inauguration. This station has been ready for use since July 2025 and will now be opened to passengers.

Train Frequency
Currently, Namo Bharat trains run every 15 minutes. When the entire corridor is operational, trains will run every 10 minutes. This will reduce passenger waiting times.

Major savings in travel time
The journey from Sarai Kale Khan (Delhi) to Modipuram (Meerut) will take just 58 minutes. This is a much faster and reliable option compared to road transport.

Train Speed
RRTS trains have a design speed of 135 kmph. The maximum operating speed is 120 kmph. It is one of India's fastest metro-style transit systems.

Meerut Metro Route
The Meerut Metro will run on a 23-km route from Meerut South to Modipuram. It will have 13 stations. The entire journey will take approximately 55 minutes.
