Especially in North India, the situation has changed slightly for those travelling on routes between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and the intervening routes. As winter progressed, the fog spread so rapidly that train schedules began to be disrupted. The Railways have taken preemptive action in light of the situation.

Many trains have been temporarily halted to avoid both daily delays and risks. Low visibility makes signals difficult for drivers to see clearly, and even relying on speed meters becomes difficult. Consequently, trips have been reduced on some routes. If you frequently travel between these states, you may have to adjust your travel plans slightly.

Every year, during the peak of winter in North India, fog poses a major challenge for trains. Currently, the situation is such that even a few meters ahead on the tracks are not clearly visible during the night and morning. This makes signal reading difficult, speed control challenging, and punctuality almost impossible.

To avoid this risk, the Railways has announced the cancellation of several trains from December to February. Routes like Delhi, Prayagraj, Patna, Howrah, Amritsar, Kolkata, Ambala, and Dibrugarh will be directly affected. This means that millions of passengers will have to replan their journeys, otherwise they may face problems mid-way.
