Managing multiple groups and hundreds of members on WhatsApp may soon become easier for admins. The company is currently working on a new feature called 'Organizations.' Here’s a look at how this feature will work and when it might be launched.

Nowadays, WhatsApp is frequently used to create groups for schools, colleges, offices, and various other organizations. When a single community contains multiple groups—each with a different set of members—keeping track of everyone can become challenging for an admin. To address this, WhatsApp is developing a new feature tentatively called 'Organizations.' It will allow admins who manage large communities to access information about members and their associated sub-groups all in one place. The feature is currently in the early stages of development, and the company has not yet announced an official launch date.

What is WhatsApp’s 'Organizations' feature?

In 2022, WhatsApp introduced the 'Communities' feature, designed to bring together multiple groups centered around a common theme or organization—for instance, grouping classes within a school or various teams within a company. Now, with the 'Organizations' feature, the company aims to further simplify community management. This new tool will be particularly useful for admins who oversee numerous groups and a large number of members.

Access Member and Sub-group Information in One Place

According to reports, traces of this feature have been spotted in the Android beta version 2.26.43.1 of WhatsApp, with a screenshot also surfacing. The feature is expected to provide a dedicated interface for admins, displaying the organization's name, a description, and the total number of members. Additionally, by tapping the 'View all' option, admins will be able to see a complete list of all members. Additionally, it will be possible to see which member belongs to which subgroup.

How will this make things easier for admins?

Currently, in large WhatsApp communities, admins may have to check individual groups to gather information about members. The 'Organizations' feature could simplify this process by making the necessary information available in one central location. This feature will function as an additional management layer on top of existing communities.

When will the 'Organizations' feature be launched?

According to reports, the WhatsApp 'Organizations' feature is still in the early stages of development and is not yet available even to beta testers. The company has not announced a launch date. It is also unclear whether this feature will be made available to iPhone users. Furthermore, WhatsApp is working on a 'scheduled messages' feature for Android users. This will allow users to draft messages in advance and have them sent at a specific, pre-set time; however, an official announcement regarding the availability of this feature is still awaited.
