Malware: Your phone is in danger, this new malware is stealing your personal photos and data..

Whenever an app is needed, immediately open the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and download it. The method of installing an app is quite easy, but sometimes we knowingly or unknowingly download some such apps that can prove to be risky for us. Some apps steal photos and your important data secretly, and we do not even know about it. Researchers at Kaspersky have recently discovered a new malware, SparkKitty, which is targeting not only Android but also iOS users.
This new malware steals photos and important information from your phone and sends it to the hacker. Fraudsters have put this malware in apps like crypto and gambling, and these apps are available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Regarding this malware, experts say that fraudsters have only one motive, and that is to steal your cryptocurrency.
Information given to Google and Apple
Kaspersky has informed Google and Apple about these dangerous apps. This malware is working to steal photos from the gallery, including screenshots, by entering your phone's gallery through fake apps. The screenshot may contain a cryptocurrency wallet recovery phrase or other private information.
SparkKitty is a Trojan virus, but you need to be careful with it because the fake app will look exactly like the original app, but the virus hidden in the fake app keeps doing its work in the background. Researchers have found it in many fake apps, including crypto converters, messaging apps, and unofficial versions of the social media app TikTok. All these apps were listed for download before they were removed from the official store.
How does SparkKitty work?
As soon as any person installs a fake app equipped with this malware, the app then asks for access to the phone's gallery. In Android, this malware scans all images through built-in tools and detects text in the photo, especially those photos that have a wallet recovery phrase or QR code. On the other hand, in iPhone, this malware bypasses your phone's system using a common coding library and then gains access to your photos and important data.
The purpose of this malware is to take control of your cryptocurrency wallet. Many people save important details related to their crypto wallet as screenshots for their convenience. People are unaware that malware can easily access these photos. Once the photo is stolen, hackers can access your wallet and transfer money without your knowledge, and cause you harm.
How to avoid it
To avoid this type of malware, do not save your bank account details, password, or recovery-related information as screenshots. Experts advise that you note down important information somewhere offline. Currently, this malware is affecting people in China and Southeast Asia; users in India are also at risk.
